Denise received her Bachelor of Science in elementary education in 1989 and her Master of Science in reading from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1993. She has been teaching for just over 20 years and in that time, has provided instruction at various elementary grade levels within several school districts in the central New York area.

Over the past several years, Denise has actively been involved in researching critical issues in education, such as guided reading, comprehension, and motivation at the intermediate levels, and she has been awarded numerous grants to study these topics. Denise is also a frequent speaker at conferences and workshops throughout the United States.
