Fred Brown is the former Associate Executive Director for Membership Development and Professional Outreach for the National Association of Elementary School Principals, located in Alexandria, Virginia. In his role, Fred provided oversight for the PALS/Principal Mentoring program, PALS/ Principal's Help Line, National Distinguished Principals program, as well as professional recognition programs for the NAESP Board of Directors, officers, and membership. Fred also served as NAESP's professional representative at all levels of government and private business. Fred has 43 years of experience in the field of education, 24 of which were spent as an elementary principal. Fred has been involved in both professional and community-service related associations throughout his career. He was chosen as Pennsylvania's Principal of the Year in 1985 and National Distinguished Principal by the U.S. Department of Education in 1986, and he was elected President of the NAESP for 1994-95. Fred Brown is currently a national and international consultant in administrative leadership development in Portugal, the Middle East, and various other regions.
