
Gayle Moller is Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Foundations in the College of Education and Allied Professions at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. She was formerly Executive Director of the South Florida Center for Educational Leaders. The Center served large, urban school districts in South Florida. The Center provided staff development for school leaders who work to improve schools. Gayle worked in the Broward County Public Schools (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida) for nineteen years as a teacher, school administrator, and staff development administrator. For six years, Gayle developed and carried out an extensive leadership development program within the school system. Gayle received her doctorate from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her graduate work centered on professional development for shared decision making. Teacher leadership, professional learning communities, and professional development have been interests of Gayle’s for the past twenty years. Gayle served on the National Staff Development Council's Board of Trustees. She is the co-author of a book with Marilyn Katzenmeyer - Awakening the Sleeping Giant: Helping Teachers Develop as Leaders, 2nd Ed. Recently, she co-authored a book with Anita Pankake - Lead with Me: A Principal's Guide to Teacher Leadership.
