James W. Keefe is an educational writer and consultant and the former director of research for the National Association of Secondary School Principals in Reston, Virginia. His professional experience includes junior high, senior high, and university teaching and secondary school administration. He was a high school assistant principal and principal in Downey, California. He taught at the University of Southern California and Loyola Marymount University, both in Los Angeles. He is the president of the Learning Environments Consortium International (LEC), an independent, non-profit corporation engaged for more than 30 years in assisting schools in systemic renewal. He is also the coordinator of the LEC Forum of distinguished educators committed to school design/redesign and developing personalized school programs. He has served on many national boards and committees and is the author of more than 50 books, book chapters, monographs and articles. He is the major author of the NASSP Learning Style Profile and served as the project director of NASSP’s Comprehensive Assessment of School Environments Information Management System (CASE-IMS).
