James McNamara is a professor at Texas A&M University. He holds graduate faculty appointments in the Department of Statistics in the College of Science and in the Departments of Educational Administration and Educational Psychology in the College of Education. While at Texas A&M, he has been a visiting scholar at the University of Michigan and an advanced study fellow at Ohio State University. Prior to joining the faculty at Texas A&M, he held academic appointments at Columbia University and the University of Oregon. He is the author of Surveys and Experiments in Education Research. Before pursuing a career in higher education, he was a high school mathematics teacher in New Jersey and an administrator in the Bureau of Research in the Pennsylvania Department of Public Instruction.
