Jim Sweeney, Interim Superintendent of Sacramento Unified School District, received his Master of Education degree in school administration from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and his doctoral degree in education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.  He served as a teacher and high school principal in upstate New York.  During his 15 years as a professor at Iowa State University, Jim provided leadership for the field-based preparation program for principals and worked with principals across the country to improve schools.  His publications and presentations include articles, booklets, and seminars on school leadership, teacher evaluation and school culture and climate.
