Eye On Education - Jane Clark Lindle

Jane Clark Lindle

Jane Clark Lindle carries on the family business of education. She is a third generation teacher following in the footsteps of her two grandmothers and a grandfather. Her father is a retired physics professor from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Her mother is a retired kindergarten teacher. Lindle began her career teaching in after-school programs for students with poor literacy and in summer programs for students with behavior problems, including some who had juvenile criminal records. As a special education teacher, Lindle served public and private schools in identifying and designing services for students with disabilities. She’s taught students from ages 4 years through 78 years in five states: Kentucky, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. She’s taught all subject matter in public and parochial schools. She’s been principal in three elementary and middle schools across two states. Lindle’s academic work focuses on accountability influences on school leadership and shared decision making. She’s the immediate past editor of Educational Administration Quarterly, the oldest scholarly journal in the field. Currently, Lindle is the Eugene T. Moore distinguished professor of educational leadership at Clemson University.
