Dr. Neil J. Shipman was the first Director of the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) and is now an educational consultant and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Leadership at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to that, Dr. Shipman had served a large and diverse suburban school system as a Principal, Supervisor of Instruction, an Area Director for Instruction, and as Acting Associate Superintendent. His publications and presentations focus on the principal’s role in improving instruction, professional development for school leaders, and the impact of the ISLLC Standards on the education reform movement. Dr. Shipman has been instrumental in affecting program reform in higher education, which he believes to be his greatest professional achievement.
