Patricia Smiley is the Director of Integrated Services and federal programs for the Emporia Public School system. A thirty-four year educator, Patricia is a former language arts and ESL teacher, assistant principal, principal, district ESL coordinator, and university professor. She holds an undergraduate and master’s degree from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, and her doctorate in educational leadership from Kansas State University in Manhattan. She was nominated for the "Outstanding Graduate Student Award" from Kansas State University for her extensive work on the principal's leadership role in promoting success for English language learners. Dr. Smiley has presented numerous workshops on various educational issues related to school leadership, English language learners, and instructional strategies.
