ABOUT JUDITH BROUGH

Judith Allen Brough, Ed.D., is a former Student Teaching Supervisor, Professor, and Chair of the Education Department at Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. She received her doctoral degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in Curriculum Planning and Development with a specialization in middle level education and supervision. She taught in grades six through ten for ten years, and returned to teaching a class weekly in grades 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 during a sabbatical leave. Among Prof. Brough's numerous publications and presentations are those which focus on middle level education, reading and the language arts, cognitive implications for learning, home-school partnerships, teaching strategies, motivation, and curriculum development and evaluation. Recently she coauthored three books with Eye on Education: Teach Me: I Dare You, Lead Me: I Dare You, and Teach My Kid, I Dare You. The books focus on motivating reluctant students and adults. She speaks regularly at regional, state and national conferences. She was included in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and is a recipient of the Gruhn-Long-Melton Award for distinguished service to middle level education and The William Alexander Award presented by the Pennsylvania Middle School Association. She was recently presented with the Distinguished Teaching Award at Gettysburg College.
