ABOUT AMY BUTTNER
Amy Buttner is a Spanish teacher at North Shore Middle School in Hartland,
Wisconsin. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a major in Spanish and a minor in English as a Second
Language. In 2003, she received her master’s degree in history from the
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Ms. Buttner has taught Spanish at the elementary, middle, and high school
levels and is a member of the Wisconsin Association of Foreign Language
Teachers. She believes in the importance of global experiences for her students
and has taken high school students to Argentina and middle school students to
Costa Rica. She is dedicated to continued professional development and is an
active participant in her school district’s Teacher Academy, a program that
promotes and supports professional development and research. This book is
largely the result of a project she designed as part of her work for the
Academy.
Ms. Buttner is currently researching best practice for the use of the SMART
Board in the foreign language classroom. The results of her research as well as
ready-to-use SMART Board lessons will be available on her website in 2008. Her
