Are you writing a book? If so, Eye On Education would like to hear about it. Here are guidelines to help you prepare your outline and prospectus:
I. The Prospectus
- For whom is the book intended? What kind of background is required?
- What would motivate a prospect to want to read and own a copy of this book?
- To which level schools does this book apply? Elementary? Middle? High? All levels?
- What are the book’s noteworthy features?
- List a few competitive and/or similar books by title and author. What are the similarities? What are the differences?
II. The Outline
- List chapter titles and subheads.
- When applicable, explain in paragraph form how you plan to approach certain topics.
III. Other information
- What is the planned length (in book pages)?
- When do you plan to begin work on the manuscript? Finish one-half? Finish the entire manuscript?
- Please send a copy of your vita.
IV. Sample Chapters
Please include two or three sample chapters which illustrate your approach.
