She is a consultant to the National Council of Teachers of English and has been a professional advisor to Scholastic magazines, the College Board and Holt McDougal.

Barbara has dedicated her life to raising the level of rigor and motivation for professional educators and students alike. She has taught early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school students and has served as an educational consultant for three publishing companies. She recently left her position at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to write and speak full-time. Her speaking engagements include state and national conferences, as well as regional service centers and districts.

insights he has gained from almost 30 years in K-12 schools at national conferences in addition

A former classroom teacher and university professor, Warren has devoted his professional
career to the application of best practices in the teaching of writing based on research and
improved student results. He developed frameworks for empowering students to learn to write,
write to learn, and experience grammar instruction in the context of the writing process.
His practical instructional strategies resonate equally well with teachers of core academic,
vocational, special education, ESOL. and gifted students. Warren continues to work directly
with several thousand students in classrooms each year.

Bryan's energetic and engaging presentations focus on classroom applications of brain
research, student engagement, gender differences, and classroom management. Bryan
is an adjunct faculty member at Northern Arizona University and director of professional
development at Casa Grande Elementary District. He has worked with teachers across the
country to apply instructional strategies that help ensure success for all students.

Chris served as a principal and chief human resources director in the public schools. He spent 15 years as a teacher and principal for three turnaround schools and served as director of human resources and accountability director for a small North Carolina school district where over 20 different languages were spoken. He designed and delivered executive development for over 4500 senior school leaders at the North Carolina’s Principal Executive Program and the North Carolina’s Principal Fellows Program. Chris focuses on how to translate research into practical tools for executives.

Angela Maiers is an award-winning educator, speaker, consultant, and professional trainer
known for her work in literacy, leadership, and global communications. She has spent 22 years
working in K-8 and university settings as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, coach,
special programs facilitator, and university professor.

Over her 30 years in public school education, Pam served as a middle and high school teacher, department chair, assistant principal, principal, and mentor/coach for new principals. She is currently an assistant professor and coordinator of the Collaborative Principal Preparation Program in the Department of Educational Leadership at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, teaching courses in instructional leadership, school improvement, professional development, and leading change. Her research areas include leadership, the principalship, and professional development.

Amy is an administrator, teacher, and learner who has served in both public and private
schools in rural, urban, and suburban areas. She has experience with Title I reading and
elementary classroom teaching and has served as a full-time literacy coach. She has been an
education programs and school improvement consultant for the Iowa Department of Education
and has taught several courses at the University of Northern Iowa.

Ron is a professor of leadership and counseling at Eastern Michigan University. Previously, he taught at the University of North Carolina and was a teacher, principal, and executive director of instruction in the Ann Arbor Public Schools in Michigan. He provided direct services to several large urban school districts as a leadership coach in a national school reform project. He also worked on a comprehensive school reform project to improve schools in New York City, Houston, Louisville, and Los Angeles. Ron works with schools throughout the country on issues of school improvement.

Sally served as a high school teacher and K-12 administrator before entering higher education.
She is a professor in the Department of Lifelong Education, Administration, and Policy in the
Program of Educational Administration and Policy at the University of Georgia, where she teaches
face to face, as well as online courses in instructional supervision, professional development,
teacher evaluation, and school improvement. She consults internationally.
